"Europe Today, 20 years after - Priorities for the Youth"

European Democrat Students (EDS) XX. Winter University took place in Brussels, Belgium, from February 23th till February 28th, 2010.
The event was organised by EDS bureau, assisted by two member organisations of EDS from Belgium- Christen-Democratische Studenten (CDS) and Les étudiants démocrates Humanistes(edH).
The event gathered 124 participants from 34 organisations representing 32 countries, also several guest participants, for example President of likeminded Youth of the European People's Party (YEPP) and EDS alumni joined during the event. EDS also hosted guests from Young MIRAS Kazahstan, Democratic League of Kosovo and Young Likud Israel, giving mutual opportunity to learn about democratic transition change in those countries as well as sharing understanding of Christian-democratic values.
The key speakers of the event were Jerzy Buzek (President of the European Parliament); José Manuel Barroso (President of the European Commission); Hans-Gert Pöttering (former President of the European Parliament and Chairman of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation); Wilfried Martens (President of the European People's Party); Antonio Lopez-Isturiz (Secretary General of the European People's Party); Othmar Karas (Vice-Chairman of the EPP Group); Frank Engel (Member of the European Parliament, former EDS Vice-Chairman); Steven van Ackere (Foreign Minister of Belgium); Luc van den Brande (Outgoing President of the Committee of Regions); Tomi Huhtanen (Director of the Centre for European Studies, former EDS Vice-Chairman) and Jan Erik Surotchak (Director of the International Republican Institute).
